The SNES, or Super Nintendo, was the second console produced by Nintendo. It was extremely popular and the top console of the 16-bit era. It set a new standard with its advances graphics and sound capabilities. The Super Nintendo is considered to have on of the best video game libraries of all times. The following ten games are considered some of the best SNES games. A few are even considered some of the best games ever.

Number 10:Donkey Kong Country – This fun game was a late release for the Super Nintendo, but still helped define the 16-bit era. Donkey Kong introduced a fun play style that remained popular well into the Playstation era. It is know for its advanced 3D side scroller play system. A fun game worth buying for any SNES lover.

Number 9: Final Fantasy III – Final Fantasy is one of the largest and most epic series off all video game series. The Final Fantasy III game was the last 2D Final Fantasy game. As the the game moved to the Play Station, it became a 3D game. It is a large adventure RPG game that uses the traditional turn based RPG fighting system. Its an overall great game and is considered to have one of the best sound tracks for a video game.

Number 8: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars – This game is Final Fantasy meets Super Mario An odd combination but a great one. The game is fun to play. Its not very deep, but a great game. Like Final Fantasy, it uses a traditional RPG fighting system, but mixes it up with some great Mario elements.

Number 7: Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong’s Quest – A solid game that has earned its spot as on of the best SNES games. The second Donkey Kong game continues the reputation set in the first Donkey Kong Country. A solid game that has an even better design than the first DKC.

Number 6: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island – This uniqe gam continues the Super Mario series on the SNES. It is a stand out game that any SNES fan should buy.

Number 5: Mega Man X – This is a classic Nintendo series. It had six games on the original NES console. Its move to the SNES brings an extremely entertaining series to the SNES. It retains many of the classic elements from the series, but brings many new and advanced elements. Not only is Mega Man X a great game, so are the other three Mega Man games for the Super Nintendo.

Number 4: Secret of Mana – If you like RPG games, than you must play Secret of Mana. The thing I love is that it uses an action RPG play style instead of the turn based system. This is a super fun multi-player game that even video game fanatic should play.

Number 3: Super Metroid – Super Metroid on the SNES is just as fun as the NES version. Its play style is similar to the original, but adds an in game map to make progression much easier.

Number 2: Chrono Trigger – Who doesn’t love Chrono Trigger? This is one of the greatest RPG games of all times. It has a total of 14 different endings, what else can I say? Amazing for the SNES.

Number 1: The Legend of Zelda: Hands down my favorite games. A Link to the Past is consider by many to be the best games of all time. The unique two world design allowed the developers to produce a massive and unique game. If you have never played this game, it is a must. Of all games on this list, nothing can beat Zelda on the SNES.
