If you are not new to the Xbox 360 game console, then you know that the red ring of death is something you do not want. Once you get the ring of death, you either have to send it to get repaired, worst case senario, you have to get a new one. There are some things you can do to prevent having that problem. Let’s take a look.

Xbox 360 consoles must be kept clean and free from grime to perform at optimal levels. Here are 4 quick steps on how to clean your Xbox 360 gaming console and prevent yourself from the dreaded rings of death. Do this every month or so, and you should have a good chance of out lasting the average xbox user.

Before we do anything make sure you disconnect the main power source. We’re going to be cleaning all openings ports and sockets. Just to be saved, unplug anything that looks like it goes into an outlet for electricity.

First, get yourself a soft towel. You want to start to wipe off the dust from the exterior of the box. You can also use canned compressed air. Using air will help prevent any more dust from getting into the Xbox. Wipe the vents, around the hard drive, and gently clean up the power sockets and memory card slots.

Next, wipe the disc tray clean, and remove grime & build up from the interior part of your Xbox 360. When you get in the system to clean it, you must wipe away any dust particles visible, and use air to blow out hidden dust particles inside your Xbox 360 console.

Make sure that you don’t let things fall into the system when you were doing this. Don’t let anything get inside. These are the kinds of things that will mess up your system and instead of being helpful can do more damage to your Xbox.

As far as your game discs, get Xbox care Kit so you can polish out any little scratches on the discs. Not taking care of the scratches will end up causing damage to your game console.

Lastly, just a quick reminder that you need to be very careful and gentle when you were cleaning your system. Do not use brute force because that may cause connections to break. If you do come across something that does not look right or you are uncertain about touching or wiping something, leave it alone.
