Have you always wanted to become a video game tester? In this though economy, it can be difficult finding a job. More and more people are being laid off everyday. So most people are out searching for new jobs. If you have a passion for video games, than you should consider applying for a job as a video game tester.

Having a passion is good, but you will need a lot more than that to become a video game tester. Most people have this misconception that becoming a game tester is an easy task. Getting into the video game industry can be a very difficult process, and a long one.

Are there any requirements for becoming a game tester? Yes. First off, you need to have a passion for video games. You also need to be able to work long hours. Since you will be reporting all of the game defects to the developers, you will have to have great communication skills.

It can be difficult to get hired as a video game tester. You have to work hard, and always give your best effort. You are responsible for finding all game defects, so you must have a quick eye, to catch the errors. You always have to give it your best effort, there are plenty of gamers out there who would love to have your job.

What is a game testers salary? There are a few factors that determine this. Just like with any other job, your salary will depend on many different factors. Someone who just starts off, can expect to make anywhere from Ten to Thirty dollars an hour, depending on which company hires you. You could make upwards of 70k a year, once you have years of experience.

Having a college degree will definitely help you make more money. Also, you will need to have at least five years of experience, and you must have a great reputation. Lots of gamers use the game tester positions as a stepping stone into the gaming industry. Usually, most people do not plan on staying long at the game tester position.

It is definitely not all fun and games. If you think that being a video game tester is going to be all fun, than chances are you will not last a long time. Why is it not as much fun as people think? Well, because you can’t take a break whenever you want. It really is nothing like playing video games at home.

You have to understand that it is a job after all. And most jobs in this world are not too fun. Yes, there will be fun days of course, but there will also be very busy days. There will be times where you will have to work for long periods of time, in order to meet the dead lines. At the end of the day, if you have the passion, by all means pursue a career as a game tester.
