G.O.R.P.: Sophomoric, depressingly unfunny durg-oriented comedy set in a summer camp. Cast includes Michael Lembeck, Dennis Quaid, Philip Casnoff, Fran Drescher, David Huddleston, Robert Trebor, Julius Harris, and Rosanna AIquette. (90 minutes, 1980)
Heartburn: Nora Ephron adjusted her own most popular (and autobiographical) novel in regards to an elderly couple whose matrimony appears just fine till she sees he’s been cheating when she’s pregnant! Lightweight, shallow tale is supercharged by 2 charismatic megastars, which make it a must see. Cast includes Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson: Jeff Daniels, Maureen Stapleton, Stockard Channing, Richard Masur, Catherine O’Hara, Steven Hill, Milos Forman, Karen Akers, Anna Maria Horsford, Mercedes Ruehl, Joanna Gleason, Yakov Smimoff, Kevin Spacey, and Natasha Lyonne. Kingdom of Heaven: A blacksmith, reeling from personal catastrophe, is influenced to join the Crusades by an illustrious knigbt, who says he is the youthful gentleman’s dad. The new knight shows his mettle by demonstrating himself a man of the people who battles to accomplish harmony between the Muslims and the Christians when guarding Jerusalem. Impressive, mythical film manages to find nobility in the Crusades, although by no means loses sigbt of its core personality’s personal voyage. Cast includes Orlando Bloom, Limn Neeson, Eva Green, Jeremy Irons, David Thewlis, Brendan Gleeson, Marton Csokas, Ghassan Massoud, Edward Norton, and Jon Finch. (145 minutes, 2005)
The Sugarland Express: Exact amusement, based on truth, in regards to a youthful couple escaping to Sugarland, Texas, to recover their child (whom they decline to give up for adoption), and the cops who chase them all the way through Texas. Cast includes Goldie Hawn, Ben Johnson, Michael Sacks, William Atherton, Steve Kanaly, and Louise Latham. (109 minutes, 1974)
Big Shots: So-so adolescent venture in reference to an ignorant white boy and streetwise city black that come together and find themselves hired as hit men. Cast includes Ricky Busker, Darius McCrary, Robert Delight, Robert Prosky, Jerzy Skolimowski, and Paul Winfield. (90 minutes, 1987)
Defiance: Abrasive little film in reference to rootless blue-collar hermit Vincent, who tries to match up his dying kid’s bone marrow on his own. He then tames a ferocious N.Y.C. road gang. Cast includes Jan-Michael Vincent, Craft Camey, Theresa Saldana, and Danny Aiello. (102 minutes, 1980)
Down to Earth: A would be standup comedian is taken to heaven before his time, and then returned to life in the body of a cruel baron. Cast includes Chris Stone, Regina Baron, Chazz Palrninteri, Eugene Tax, Frankie Faison, Mark Addy, Jennifer Coolidge, Greg Germann, Wanda Sykes, and Greg Cho (87 minutes, 2001)
The Egg and I: Colbert is admirable as city gal who weds poultry farmer MacMurray and battles to make things work on his farm. Cast includes Claudette Colbert, Fred MacMurray, Marjorie Prime, Louise Allbritton, Percy Kilbride, Richard Long, Donald MacBride, and Samuel S. Hinds. (108 minutes, 1947)
The Dinner Game: Humorous charade in regards to a self centered publisher who partakes in a monthly custom with his buddies to ask the stupidest individual they could find to supper. Lhermitte has discovered a doozy, a civil servant Villeret who interferes in his own life in incredible ways. The work is comically ludicrous without being nasty. Cast includes Thierry Lhermitte, Jacques Villeret, Francis Huster, Daniel Prevost, Alexandra Vandernoot, and Catherine Frot. (81 minutes, 1998)
