October 15th, 2009 by Francis MartinIn the past you had to go to a store if you wanted to rent or buy a movie. Now, with internet usage exploding, movie downloads are becoming very popular. Here are some examples of movies you can acquire through a movie download site.
I Love You Alice B: Phenomenal comedy in reference to the panicking of a well-known and successful L.A. attorney. Peter Sellers puts on one of his best performances in this piece. The film was written by Larry Tucker and Paul Mazursky. Cast Peter Sellers, Jo Van Fleet, Leigh Taylor-Youthful, and Joyce Van Patten. (93 minutes, 1968)
The Page Turner: A 1O-year-old gal who is committed to becoming a piano genius auditions for a music scholarship, but is turned down by the dean of the school. 10 years later she puts herself into the same ladies home, gets the family to trust her, and plans her revenge. Cast includes Catherine Frot, Deborah Francois, Pascal Gregory, Xavier de Guillebon, Christine Citi, and Jacques Bonnaffe. (85 minutes, 2006)
Across the Universe: A young English boy comes to the US to find his father. On his search he finds, and falls in love with an American girl. Set in post Vietnam War US, this movie is really a vehicle to play a lot of Beatles music. Cast includes Julie Taymor. Evan Rachel Wood. Jim Sturgess, Joe Anderson, Dana Fuchs, Martin Luther McCoy. T. V. Carpio, Spencer Litf, Lisa Hogg, Bill Irwin, James Urbaniak, Dylan Baker, Joe Cocker, Bono, Salma Hayek, and Eddie Izzard all make appearances. (2007 Romance)
Hannah Takes The Stairs: This film is every bit as unfocused and self-indulgent as its eponymous heroine. It’s a Chicago production organization wage earner gratingly played by Gerwig who drifts through a succession of short-lived relations that aren’t romances so much as one night stands. Cast includes Greta Gerwig, Kent Osborne, Andrew Bujalski, Ry Russo, and Mark Duplass. (83 minutes, 2007)
Flubber: Absent-minded professor Phillip Brainard is working on a revolutionary discovery. When he finally succeeds, the world is introduced to and incredible gooey substance called Flubber. When applied to almost anything, the effect is to massively increase the rebounding qualities of the object, seemingly defying gravity.
Nightmare on Elm Street: A few teenagers find they’re all having bad dreams about the same bad guy, scar faced Fred Krueger, a sort of ghost who can enter their dreams at will and attack them while they sleep. It’s up to Nancy Langenkamp to try to stop Freddy Krueger. Cast includes Lionel Atwill, Fay Wray, Glenda Farrell, Allen Vincent, Blunt McHugh, and Arthur Edmund Carewe. (77 minutes, 1933)
Mrs. Doubtfire: Warm and gratifying comedy with earnest overtones in reference to a free spirit whose spouse divorces him after fourteen years. He couldn’t bear being split apart from his 3 kids, so he camouflages himself as a dowdy British housekeeper (under an Oscar quality makeup job) and gets himself employed to look after them. Williams is in top form, and director Columbus keeps the tale and characters moderately practical in an effort to drive home a humanistic message. Cast includes Robin Williams, Sally Territory, Pierce Brosnan, Harvey Fierstein, Polly Holliday, Lisa Jakob, Matthew Lawrence, and Mara Wilson. (125 minutes, 1993)
The Truman Show: Truman Burbank starts to get a strange feeling. He can’t quite explain it, but something just isn’t right. It turns out that Truman is right. In fact everyone else in town is an actor, and every day is The Truman Show.
Blessed Event: Tracy’s most renowned role has him as a Walter Winchell mock-up whose fiery line makes him famous but also lands him in hot water. Cast includes Roy Del Ruth. Lee Tracy, Mary Brian, Dick Powell, Emma Dunn, Blunt McHugh, Allen Jenkins, Ned Kindles, and Ruth Donnelly. (81 minutes, 1932)
For file downloads use a phrase like “View Movies Online”. If that phrase gets you nowhere, try another phrase. Switch to “Download Music” and see if you find what you are looking for.
