Sugarbaby: Its love at first sight for fat mortuary attendant Sagebrecht and subway train driver Swig in this droll romantic satire. Actors and tale are off beat, the avant-garde lighting fails, and the camcorder movements by cinematographer Johanna Heer are irritating. Cast includes Marianne Sagebrecht and Eisi Swig. The General: One of Keaton’s best silent films, setting comedy contrary to real Civil War tale of a stolen train, and Union spies. The Gorgeous Hussy: Megastars fill the cast in this fictionalized historical drama of Peggy O’Neal, President Andrew Jackson’s secret lover. The cast is beautifully costumed in well assigned settings. The movie is based on the novel by Samuel Hopkins Joyce. Cast includes Joan Crawford, Robert Taylor, Lionel Barrymore, Franchot Tone, Melvyn Douglas, James Stewart, Alison Skipworth, Beulah Bondi, and Gene Lockhart. (102 minutes, 1936)

Hackers: A group of youthful computer specialists is framed for crimes committed by pc whiz and would-be master felon Stevens, and have to use their own computer abilities to demonstrate their innocence. It is quick paced and the lucid directing makes it fun. Cast includes Jonny Lee Miller, Angelina. Jolie, Fisher Stevens, Matthew Lillard, Laurence Mason, Jesse Bradford, Renoly Santiago, Lorraine Bracco, Wendell Perforate, Penn Jillette, Felicity Huffman, and Marc Anthony. (105 minutes, 1995)

Frozen Assets: Low-octane joke trifle, in which Bernsen is moved to a new bank only to find it’s a sperm bank (get it?). He meets censored biologist Long and after a lot of wisecracks they find that they are drawn to each other. Cast includes Shelley Long, Corbin Bernsen, Larry Miller, Dody Goodman, Matt Clark, Paul Sand, Teri Copley, Gloria Camden, and Gerrit Graham. (96 minutes, 1992)

The Egyptian: A ponderous, often accidentally ludicrous biblical times soap style film with Purdom cast as the tender, truth seeking title personality, set in old Egypt. Darvi’s behavior as a femme fatale is humorously terrible. Cast includes Jean Simmons, Victor Mature, Gene Tiemey, Michael Wilding, Bella Darvi, Peter Ustinov, Edmund Purdom, Judith Evelyn, Henry Daniell, John Carradine, and Tommy Rettig. (140 minutes, 1954)

Southland Tales: An impressive cast is trashed in an over long, overwrought wallow set in 2008 Southern California three years after a catastrophic atomic assault has turned America into a patrol state. Concentrates on a few individuals trying to subsist in this post apocalyptic atmosphere, including a B action film performer, a porn megastar turned Television commentator, and an L.A. patrol officer with a split personality. Cast includes Dwayne Johnson, Sean William Scott, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Mandy Moore, Justin Timberlake, Nora Dunn, John Larroquette, Bai Ling, Jon Lovitz, Cheri Oteri, Amy Poehler, Lou Taylor Pucci, Miranda Richardson, Wallace Shawn, Holmes Osborne, Kevin Smith, Christopher Lambert, Janeane Garofolo, Beth Grant, Zelda Rubinstein, and Curtis Armstrong. Only Two Pan Play: Well-intentioned filming of the Kingsley Amis novel That Undecided Sensation (adjusted by Bryan Forbes), yearning for fast giggles instead of satire. Peter Vendors is a librarian flirting with a local councilman’s wife. Will they take things too far’ Cast includes Peter Vendors, Mai Zetterling, Virginia Maskell, Richard Attenborough, and Kenneth Griffith. (106 minutes, 1962)

The Vows: An astronomically pleasing story of an ambitious youthful Dubliner who takes on the task of constructing and managing a band made up of other Dubliners who harmonize ’60s-type music! Disarmingly involving from them start with a charismatic cast of unknowns, and the film is filled with irresistible music. This film is truly a genuine treat. Cast includes Robert Arkins, Michael Aherne, Angeline Ball, Maria Doyle, Dave Finnegan, Bronagh Gallagher, Felim Gormley, Glen Hansard, Dick Massey, Johnny Murphy, Kenneth McCluskey, Andrew Hefty, and Colm Meaney.
