Gorgo: This film is an excellent sci-fi tale of a captured ocean beast put on display in London, and the massive parent, who is coming to the rescue. The film has excellent visual effects. Cast includes Bill Travers, William Sylvester, Vincent Fall, Bruce Seton, and Joseph O’Connor. (78 minutes, 1961)

The Guyver: All-American Armstrong, contaminated by an extraterrestrial device, finds that he is an armored superhero, an excellent thing, except that virtually everyone else in the film might turn into a frightening beast, like CIA representative Hamill, who turns into a large cockroach. Awkward clumps of humor only make the contrived plot appear even more mindless. (92 minutes, 1992)

Big Shots: So-so adolescent venture in reference to an ignorant white boy and streetwise city black that come together and find themselves hired as hit men. Cast includes Ricky Busker, Darius McCrary, Robert Delight, Robert Prosky, Jerzy Skolimowski, and Paul Winfield. (90 minutes, 1987)

The Black Orchid: A concocted soap style film of bumbling businessman (Quinn) courting mafia widow (Loren) and the complication of persuading their youngsters that matrimony can make all their lives better. Cast includes Sophia Loren, Anthony Quinn, Ina Balin, Jimmie Baird, (Peter) Mark Richman, Naotni Stevens, and Frank Puglia. (1959 minutes, 96)

Following: A fascinating ultra low spending limit precursor to Nolan’s’Souvenir’, another nonlinear tale in regards to a youthful aimless guy who plans to follow individuals, just for the hell of it until one of his “subjects” turns the tables and tempts him into his own world, where he pillages vacant apartments and invades his victim’s lives. Cast includes Jeremy Theobald, Alex Haw, Lucy Russell, and John Nolan. (71 minutes, 1999)

Slaughter in San Francisco: Prior cop Wong desires retribution on killer of his companion. Norris, in an aiding role, is the poor guy. Cast includes Don Wong, Ditch Norris, Sylvia Channing, Robert Jones, and Dan Ivan. (87 minutes, 1981)

Dinner Rush: A tumultuous day in the life of a recently fashionable N.Y.C. restaurant. Owner Aiello is considering of giving up his bookie job, his megastar cook is requesting part ownership of the restaurant, and then 2 mobsters materialized to pay an unfriendly visit, etc. Flavorful film has the ring of reality inside the restaurant, and outside it is brimming with life. Cast includes Danny Aiello, Edoardo Ballerini, Vivian Wu, Mike McGlone, Kirk Acevedo, John Corbett, Sandra Bernhard, Summer Phoenix, Polly Draper, Mark Margolis, and Ajay Naidu. (100 minutes, 2001)

Down to Earth: A would be standup comedian is taken to heaven before his time, and then returned to life in the body of a cruel baron. Cast includes Chris Stone, Regina Baron, Chazz Palrninteri, Eugene Tax, Frankie Faison, Mark Addy, Jennifer Coolidge, Greg German, Wanda Sykes, and Greg Cho (87 minutes, 2001)

Dusty: A discreet feeling little film in regards to a dingo (crazy mutt of the bush), seized when a puppy and ultimately brought up by an old gentleman (Kerr). Grownups can like it as much as kids. Cast includes John Richardson. Bill Kerr, Noel Trevarthen, Carol Bums, Nicholas Holland, John Stanton, and Kate Edwards. (88 minutes, 1982)
